Heatwave in the O.C. - August & September 100+ Degrees!

It hit 100+ degrees for the end of August and most of September. We were dying! It seems like every year we have record-breaking heat around Blake's birthday. But this year the heat lasted the whole month of September. It would have been cooler for us to move to Arizona! At the end of August, Laurie Brooks invited us to swim at her in-laws' home. It was 105 degrees outside but the pool water was only in the 70's, so the kids split time between the hot tub, laying on the hot patio and jumping into the chilly water!

The last Saturday of August was the Football weigh-in and pep rally day. Boyd went with the team to Fountain Valley and sat outside for hours while the boys lined up to be weighed. Then later all the Irvine Charger players and families held a Pep Rally at Concordia University. It was 90+ degrees inside the gymnasium without a/c running!

Wendy and Boyd put together the team party after the pep rally. We ordered pastas and salads and set up tables and chairs on the grass. It was a fun way to meet the parents and kick off the season, even if it was still unbelievably HOT!!
